National University of Science and Technology was officially inaugurated on December 3,2018   by His Highness Sayyid Asaad bin Tareq al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs and Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan, in presence of a number of ministers, officials and faculty. The university was born out of the merger of College of Medicine and Health Sciences, College of Engineering and College of Pharmacy. The National University of Science & Technology, the pioneer among private Universities in Oman, has already commenced its operations in September 2018 and The Ministry of Higher Education has accorded permission to establish the University by combining three professional colleges in Oman renowned for excellence in Education & Research. The Colleges are: Caledonian College of Engineering (www.cce.edu.om ),Oman Medical College (www.omc.edu.om), College of Pharmacy (www.omc.edu.om/pharmacy-program/). The launching of the new University is a significant milestone in the manifestation of social commitment of Sheik Salim Al Fannah Al Araimi, Dr. P. Mohamed Ali, and the family of late Mohamed Rasheed Al Fannah Al Araimi, who have founded the three Colleges. Shaikh al Araimi and Dr P Mohammed Ali, Chairman, University Executive Board, presented a memento to HH Sayyid Asaad. The first lecture session series was inaugurated by Dr Rawya bint Saud al Busaidiyah, Minister of Higher Education.NU is spread over four campuses in Oman; engineering course at Al Hail; medicine at Suhar; foundation studies at Airport Heights; and pharmacy and administration at Bausher.
